The Captain drives off in style

At Kidderminster Golf Club, it's always been tradition for the Captain of the club to drive a ball from the first tee on New Year's day to welcome the new year, and to officially open the course for the year. 

Over the years we have seen some very interesting shots, a few tops, fats, hooks and slices, this year the pressure was on Alan to try and hit the ball straight and forward and he didn't disappoint, with a beautiful drive splitting the fairway at 173 yards. 

We all have a bet on the day to guess how far the Captain would hit the ball, me having inside information with teaching Alan bet 172 yards, and I thought that was good enough to win but well done to Hilary Parsons for betting the exact figure of 173 yards. All the money went to charity so thank you for all you support.  

Indoor winter league in full swing

We have had nearly 30 teams sign up for the indoor winter league, so a big thank you for your support. 

January's competition is nine holes at the Belfry better ball. Robbie Moore and Craig Wood have started the competition scoring a very impressive 35 better ball. 

Let's see if that gets beat. There will be a running leaderboard in the swing room along with the scores in the newsletter. 

 

Juniors never end at Kidderminster 

Even with the weather and the swing room being busy, this doesn't stop us at Kidderminster. Noel still runs the junior class inside, working on different putting games to practice feel, touch and scoring along with having great fun. We have a great group of juniors and the club will reap the rewards in the future. 



A few great nights coming up at the golf club

The club have a few great social functions booked for the next couple of months. 

We have Burns night on the 23, January and Valentines night on the 13, February. 

Also please remember the club run Sunday lunches every Sunday and the food is excellent.

What are the pro shop staff up to this week? 

As soon as we get back into some normality after the Christmas period, I will be away next week as Dee is going in to have our baby. She is booked in for a c section on Tuesday so fingers crossed all will go well and we can finally move forward, she will be in for a couple of days if there is no complications she will be home and our family will be together which I can't wait for. 

Noel and my dad will be holding the fort for the week. I will be contactable apart from the Tuesday and will be around next week but I am not sure on times and days yet.
