New kid on the block

The pro shop would like to welcome James Cobley to the team. James is member of the golf club and holds a handicap of 7. James will be working weekdays for us on a apprenticeship scheme designed for young good golfers. 

With the winter getting busier now with the studio and the summer always a crazy time we needed more cover on the shop and James will be a great addition to the shop staff. 

Please pop your head in to the shop and introduce yourself to James, also if you can buy something so he can get used to using the till you will be very helpful for him. 

Practice makes perfect. 

  

Easter camp for the juniors

Our junior Easter camp is almost full. If you have a junior who would like to attend the day just let me know by phoning the shop. 

We have 4 spaces left.

Wednesday, 30 March - 10am until 1pm.

£15 per child.

A nice day out

On Tuesday I was kindly invited to play Astbury hall. 

The course was ok considering all the rain we have had, you can see in parts of the course just how wet the course has been. The greens were very quick but bobbly due to the lack of growth. 

We had a great day and having played the front 9 in level par I faulted on the back 9 and ended up shooting 76. Not to bad as this was first venture outside this year. 

   

Ladies classes back in full swing

The ladies classes have now started again on the main practice ground. Every Wednesday at 10am for 1 hour for £7.50 per person. 

Each week we will be practicing a different shot. This week we practiced 75 yard shots into the green, next week is short game.

One of my pupils, Aaron Wright has now turned professional after a excellent amateur career. Aaron played off +2 but now is pushing himself against the professionals. 

Aaron tees up next week to try a qualify for the Euro Pro Tour. Aaron came in this week to iron out a few issues and for us to get him in the best shape possible to qualify. 

I'll keep you informed on how he gets on. 

Professional dinner a wonderful night

Last Friday we attend the worcestershire PGA dinner. We had a great night. On the night we had a magician who was incredible, still can't get my head around how he did some of the tricks. 

We also had Pete McGovern for our after dinner speaker and as always Pete was very funny and well worth seeing. A great night was had by all.

   

Macey wants to return

Having punished Macey very badly last weekend by taking her to watch the albion against Norwich she has now asked if we can go up again. I've told her I would and said she would enjoy the game even more if we have a shot on target next time and maybe in years to come she might see us score a goal.

What's the pro shop staff up to?

This week I'm taking the lads out for a bite to eat to have a chat about the shop and what I want this year. 

I'm also extremely busy teaching. Noel is getting busy and has been working hard on his exercise to try and get his back in good order ready for the season. 

James will continue to work closely with us to learn the ropes, Ethan is always excellent on weekends and my Dad returns from Cornwall with a storeroom full of trollies to repair.
