Pros news

Back on course

In the past week both Noel and myself have managed to play some golf away from Kidderminster. With the weather being so good we have enjoyed some good golf on great courses.

Ludlow

I played last week at Ludlow on Thursday and Cleeve Hill on Friday. Ludlow was in excellent condition with greens rolling extremely quick I played with Phil Brookes and after a rusty start through lack of play I managed to make 2 birdies and a eagle to shoot +1 which I was happy with.

Phil hit the ball really well and we had a great afternoon.

Cleeve Hill

On Friday, I played Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham with Paul Roper

The course is very different being high above Cheltenham, the views are amazing and the course is good for a day out. I managed to shoot level par making 3 birdies and 3 bogeys, Paul hit the ball from tee to green the best I have ever seen but struggled on the greens as they were very slow.

Again a great day.

John's Golf Tour

Noel went on a golfing trip organised by John Parsons with 6 more members playing 3 days in north Wales.

On Sunday they played North Wales Golf Club a true links golf course, on Monday they played Conway golf club which is a open qualifying course and the feedback from the group said the course was fantastic.

On the final day they played Prestatyn golf club. They had a great trip and what makes a massive difference is getting the weather going your way.

Noel played excellent all 3 days and had a great trip.

Tip of the week

Don't get stuck in bunkers

Now the weather has improved and the bunkers are in good order there is no excuse to struggle in bunkers. If you are struggling here are a few simple tips to help get you out the bunkers.

1. Shuffle your feet in to the sand to help create balance, help know the depth of sand and lower your centre of gravity to help hit behind the ball.

2. Swing the club along the line of your feet

3. Create a steep angle to hit down behind the ball around 1 inch behind the ball. A full back swing.

4. After making the full backswing and hitting behind the ball make sure you make a full follow through keeping the swing positive and commit to your shot.

Shop news

Do you have old clubs hanging around?

If you have a garage full of old clubs and your not using them anymore pop them into the shop and we will turn them into credit on your pro shop account.

In the past 3 years we have sold thousands of pounds of clubs so maybe we can turn your clubs into credit. Clubs must be a main brand and no more than 6 years old!

Pros news

What's the pro shop staff up to this week?

I'm playing Friday afternoon and then getting ready for the Stewart Smith trophy for Saturday. I'm extremely busy teaching the rest of the week. Noel is busy teaching, James goes away next week for a weeks holiday, Ethan is working the weekends as usual and my Dad is managing to get on top of the trolley repairs.
