Only one place to start
What can I say, this years Open Championship.
It has to be the best golf I have ever watched on TV. Two golfers at the top of their games going head to head for the claret jug. Henrik Stenson played amazing for the whole week and lead almost ever stat going in to the last day, fairways hit, greens in regulation so I always fancied him to win.
Watching Mickelson on Saturday I thought he struggled slightly but with his amazing short game managed to shoot a decent round, but I still thought Stenson would win easily, how wrong I was.
Looking back at the highlights on Monday, Stenson could have shot 59 Sunday.
Between them they had 14 birdies and an eagle in the last round. That's ridiculous.
Let's hope The Open the reignited people's passion for the game and people who we thinking about taking up this wonderful game will so. The Open sweepstake was well supported and thank you to everyone who entered. The winners were as follows and all winnings have been credited on to your pro shop accounts.
John Parsons - Henrik Stenson £90
Roger Price - Phil Mickelson £70
Sam Inett - J B Holmes £50
Grant Cosnett - Steve Stricker £40
Short game clinic a success.
Last Friday we ran a short game clinic sponsored by Titleist and Vokey.
We had a fully booked night. We talked about lofts, grinds and bounce of the wedges and how these can help or hinder your short game.
We did distance control and a variety of shots around the green. We had a great night with everyone enjoying the clinic.
More to follow so keep reading the newsletter. Click here to get in touch about booking yourself in for an upcoming clinic.
Worcestershire PGA Presidents' Day
Last Thursday Kidderminster hosted the PGA Presidents' Day competition. My team comprised of my dad, Kevin Woodham and John Holt and Noel's teams comprised of John and Jim Parsons and Kevin O'Conner.
The course was in amazing condition for the day and we had a great days golf. I played nicely but lost a few shots around the green but still finished second in the professional prizes with 33 points.
Noel also played well but a blob on his finishing hole (13th) left him with 31 points.
A big thank you must go to the WPGA, the Greenstaff and Lynn and her staff for a great day and a great meal afterwards.
While the mice is away the cats will play
I will return to work on Wednesday, 27 July so you have plenty of time to come in to the shop and get a silly deal.
The lads have a goal to reach so why not go in to the shop and help them reach the goal.
Here are a few deals but many more when you speak to the lads.
What's the pro shop staff up to this week?
As I'm sunning myself in Tenerife I will leave you in the capable hands of Noel, Dad, James and Ethan.
Have a great week and I'll look forward to seeing you when I return. I hope the shop is empty when I return with all the sales that will be going on.
