Great captains away day

Last Friday we headed to Bloxwich golf club for the captains day out. If you haven't played Bloxwich then I recommend you get yourself over there for a game. 

It's a beautiful parkland golf course with a wonderful mix of golf holes in excellent condition. Organise by John Parsons we had a superb day. The sun shone and everyone who attend throughly enjoyed the day. I played with the captain and we had a wonderful day. 

We both played nicely, I shot 72 and the captain would have been close to his handicap.

Juniors are the future

We believe at Kidderminster that juniors are the future to our golf club. 

This is why run many different events in order to get the children off their playstations and on to the course.

Junior summer camps 

We have a few spaces left on the summer camps. If you interested please contact the shop. 

Saturday morning golf 

10am until 11am 5 to 8 years old - Pat. £3 for the hour. 
10am until 11 am 9 to 12 years old - Noel. £5 for the hour. 
11.30am until 12.30pm 13 to 16 years old - Noel. £5 for the hour. 

   

No need to book, no need for equipment, just turn up at the shop on those times.

How to play a fairway bunker shot

This is a common question I get asked. How do you play a fairway bunker shot? 

Here are my tips to help you with this shot. Move the ball further back in your stance. This will help create a slightly steeper swing plane and help you hit the ball first at the bottom of your swing. 

Slightly shuffle your feet into the sand to help create balance as your making a full swing. Grip down the club for control and shorten the club will help you hit the ball first rather than the sand. 

- Stand tall to help you strike the ball 
- Take more club if possible, depending on the depth of the bunker 
- Swing nice and smooth and easy 
- Keep your chin up to help clip the ball off the top of the surface.

What's the pro shop staff up to this week? 

This week continues to be fairly busy, August is never the best of months for business as many people are on holiday. 

I have a busy week teaching and fitting, Noel has a junior camp on Wednesday and more lessons in the week, James is away in Spain, Ethan returns from America and will be back to work on Saturday and my Dad is in work as normal.
