Macey hits 7 years old

On Sunday my eldest daughter celebrated her 7th birthday. Can't believe how quick the time has gone. 

She had a lovely birthday with a trip to the fair on Monday and party on Wednesday at Boing zone.

 

How to play in the dry weather

It's nice to write a piece for the newsletter that doesn't include floods and heavy rain. 

The sun has been shining for a while now and the course is drying up and is starting to play very short, short doesn't mean easy as the ground is very bouncy and can sometimes be a disadvantage and not an advantage. 

Here are my top tips to playing in dry condition. 

1. If possible land the ball short of the greens to allow for the ball to roll on. 
2. Use a soft compression ball to help stop the ball easier. 
3. Be realistic in the clubs you use of the fairways. If there is hardly any grass an iron is better than a fairway wood. The wood can bounce causing you to top the ball. 
4. Move the ball position slightly further back in your stance to help strike down on the ball and hit the ball first. If you use these tips I'm sure you can make the hard ground conditions work to your advantage.

On Wednesday Noel played a pro am at Moesley. 

Congratulations to Mark Cox (pictured) for winning the nearest the pin and also congratulations on the team for finishing 3rd. Well done.

Did you miss out

Course starting to take shape 

2 weeks we had our greens maintenance where we did a lot of work in a very short period of time. 

The course is now starting to to recover and look great again. The greens are rolling beautiful, very true and will only get quicker as they dry out. 

The green staff have been rolling the greens this week with a vibrating roller to increase the speed and smooth the surface. 

 

What's the pro shop staff been up to? 

This weeks is a busy week with the seniors pairs open and the jubilee the weekend so I've been busy getting the shop ready for these events along with a almost fully book teaching diary this week is unusual for August but I'm not complaining. 

Noel is playing Moesley Wednesday and has been busy with the junior summer camps. Ethan returned back to work after 2 weeks in America. 

James is back to work Monday after 2 weeks in Spain and my dad has been busy with the trolley repairs.
