Plug the gap in your bag

These day we sell drivers, fairway woods and hybrids easily but when it comes to wedges people almost see it as there's no need to bother.

Do you know that 80% of golf is played from 100 yards and in so wedges and putters are so important to your game to lower your scores.

So what loft should I have on my wedges?

This is a question I get asked frequently. The answer is it all depends on the loft of your pitching wedge.

In the old days a pitching wedge had between 46 to 47 degrees so a 52 degree wedge was perfect. Now look below at current lofts.

TaylorMade PW 43.5 degrees
PING G Series PW 45 degrees
JPX 900 hot metal PW 45 degrees
Titleist AP1 PW 43 degrees

If we look for increments of 4/5 degrees per club you can see that gap wedges these days are generally 50 degrees.

So what is bounce on a wedge and how does that effect me?

Bounce angle is an indication of how much the sole, or bottom-most part, of the club head lifts the leading edge.

Depending on how you swing and your angle of attack will determine the bounce.

So how can we help find you the perfect wedges for your bag?

What we would do first is to find how far you hit your wedge using the launch monitor and then gap around that. We would also analysis your swing for your angle of attack for the bounce.

We are a Vokey wedge fitting centre

We have 18 Vokey wedges for custom fitting and with having the GC2 we can match all your yardages and spin rates to get you the perfect wedges for your game.

Do the shoes fit right?

Do you realise that 7 out of 10 golfers wear the incorrect shoe size for their feet. They buy bigger because of the width or because they have a high in step. We now fit shoes like we would a driver. If your paying good money for shoes they need to fit right so they last longer.

We will be doing a exercise over the next month and asking people if we can see if the shoes their wearing are the correct size. If you are wearing the exact correct size then you get a free pair of socks. Easy really!

So next time your in the shop and we ask if we can measure your feet you might get a £10 pair of socks free.

Take a look at our shoe fitting wall in the shop.
