Coaching news

Swing changes and how to become more consistent.

Consistency has to be the biggest issue with all golfer. The golfers with the higher handicaps will be more inconsistent and their bad shots will be much worse than a low handicapper. I know I'm stating the obvious but this is a fact and one that we need to address.

So, how to we gain more consistency?

1. A good pre shot routine and to keep the routine every shot you hit. Routines will always help with you tempo and rhythm and also this will help when your under pressure. Every golfers routines might be different but try and keep your routine consistent every time you hit the ball.

2. Shorten your back swing will definitely help you create more consistency. Most golfers who swing long will be wild and inconsistent. Take a look at the swing below. Notice the very long backswing, wrist hinge to much and the arms bent, this will lead to inconsistency.

What we did was shorten the backswing, create less wrist hinge and create more width. This will help with consistency.

3. Create balance on the follow through to help hit better shots. What we are looking for is the whole body to face the target and to be up on to your toe creating a really good balance. Notice below flat footed follow through.

After a couple of changes notice the whole body face the target and the feet start to work.

Make these changes and this will help you create consistency to help you enjoy your golf and to reduce your handicap.

Pros news

Kington is worth a visit.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of playing Kington.

Never playing the course before I thought the course was really nice and the views were just incredible. If you haven't played it I would recommend you take a visit.

I played quite nice, struggled slight off the tee with the driver and also didn't hole many putts but I shot 73 which is 3 over so not to bad.

Take a look at the views.

Tour news

US Open at Erin Hills.

Who will win this weeks US open?

The course looks amazing and as usual it has been set up extremely tough but with the fairways being 60 yards wide if you do miss those then you deserve to be in deep rough. Good look to all Europeans this week. Let's see what's in Rory's bag this week.
