Luke bags the Alan Lloyd Trophy. The Alan Trophy was played for over the weekend. The trophy has been played for now for over 70 years and for all those didn't know Alan Lloyd he was a very successful golfer at Kidderminster winning our own club championship many times and also winning many county events. I had the honour of knowing Alan and meeting him many times when I was a youngster at the club and he's stories were always really interesting to listen to. The first round saw over 100 players tee of to try and make it into the top 16 to play the second round on the Sunday and after some amazing scores the cut was made and we had our top 16. Going out in reverse order the scoring was harder on the Sunday but eventually we had our winner. Matt Edwards shot two great scores but unfortunately being a bronze member he wasn't eligible to win the trophy. He still managed to get his handicap cut and is now playing off single figures so well done Matt. Simon Parkes (sleepy) came in with a great 68 followed by a Saturday 72 posting 140 total which is extremely good. However Luke Rogers (Codge) followed a nett 68 with a nett 69 to win the Alan Lloyd with a wonderful 137 total. Considering Luke plays off 1 handicap as well the achievement is even better. |
