From one extreme to another

Last week I wrote about how the weather was fantastic and how good everything was. This week I write this newsletter after a dreadful few days of weather. It started Friday with the klaxon sounding for thunder and lightening followed by heavy rain. Then Saturday started ok with over 60 people teeing off in the competition then at around 10am the heavens opened and within 30 minutes the course was completely flooded. As Steve O'Conner and myself were going to get members off the course the bunkers were over flowing with water and all the greens were flooded alongside most of the fairways. The rain was so heavy it has brought down 2 trees on the course, one being at the back of the first green, so the weekend didn't go according to plan. Boys on tour

Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to play Blackwell with 3 of our members. Brain Longmore, Mark Baker and Paul Burkes. We had a great day. Paul and me took on Brian and Mark and after 2 holes we were 2 up, I chipped in on the first and Paul had a nett par on the 2nd. We then got pegged back and we were 1 down on the 18th tee. I managed to hit my drive way right and never to been seen again, Paul hit a good drive along with both Mark and Brain, Mark then hit his second shot to 2 feet and sunk the putt for a birdie so we lost meaning we had to buy the lunch. Great day and good fun all round though.

What's are the pro shop staff up to this week?

This week I'm busy teaching Tuesday and Wednesday, I'm playing Thursday and Friday and then a busy weekend before I jet of to Turkey for a family holiday next Tuesday for a week so I will leave you in the very capable hands of Noel and my Dad who will look after your every need. Noel continues to get stronger and is back teaching and my Dad has returned from Scotland to a mountain of trolleys for repair.
