Competition news

Mark Smith takes the first men’s trophy of the year

On Saturday we held the Aggborough Cup and Gophers Trophy. The Aggborough Cup is one of the oldest trophies we play for. The trophy came from the old Kidderminster golf club which is where the harriers football ground is now. The stadium is called Aggborough as well.

This was our first mens qualifier of the season and with the grass growing so quick it was like the US open in places. You can tell how tough the course was, only 8 broke par out of 130 entires.

Mark Smith came in with an amazing knock. A gross 71 nett 66. A quite incredible knock considering the long grass and the tees being put right at the back. Mark only won by 1 shot though with Mark James having a great knock of nett 67.

I managed to get out on the course on Saturday morning to take a few photos. The course looked beautiful and with the sun out you couldn’t beat it.
