Competition news

The Jubilee Trophy

Last weekend we played our annual Jubilee trophy against Stourbridge. This is a massive highlight in our calendar where two of the premier clubs in Worcestershire and two clubs that have worked extremely close over the years go head to head. It’s a wonderful weekend where most clubs are in competition these days to have a weekend with our neighbours played in an amazing spirit, long may it continue.

The weekend was a massive success for Kidderminster after our back to back defeats we managed to play unbelievable golf to capture the trophy back. The best 12 scores from Kidderminster against the best 12 scores from Stourbridge over the two rounds saw us win by 54 shots. Amazing golf from both teams.

A big congratulations to Andy Cavendish and Matt Edwards of Kidderminster for winning the two day event with a whopping 119 which is 23 under. Also congratulations to Craig Emms and Craig Williams for shooting 56 at Stourbridge and for Paul Nunn and Byron Hickman for shooting 59 at Kidderminster. I’ve been involved in the Jubilee now for 25 years and I’ve never heard of scores like that.

Seniors news

Seniors Open successful as always

Last Thursday we held our Seniors Pairs Open. An almost fully booked field had a great day, visitors commented on the course and the food afterwards which is always appreciated.

Stewart Preston our Seniors Captain organised the day. A great day and well done. Congratulations to Mike Ward and Neil Nicholls both from Kidderminster won with a very impressive score of 46 points, our senior’s captain and his guest finished second with 44 points. Well done to all involved.

Club news

The Ryder Cup Sweepstake

We are running our own sweepstake for the Ryder Cup. Choose who will win and by what score. Remember the final score needs to add up to 28.

Come in to the shop and pick up a betting slip and choose your options. All money raised will go back into Ryder Cup prizes.

I survived alone

Last week Dee went away with her girlfriends for 4 nights leaving me home alone.

I thought teaching for 12 hours and working in the shop all day was hard, not even close, housewives deserve a medal.

We had a lovely weekend though going to the safari park and play centres as well as using my dad’s pool.

What's the pro shop staff up to this week

This next week is quite different in the shop as we have loads of holidays. Matt goes away today until, next Tuesday, he’s at Reading festival.

Noel is away Thursday as it’s his son’s birthday. Me and my dad are away Thursday, a very sad day for us as we say good bye to my cousin, my dad’s nephew who sadly passed away at the age of 51 two weeks ago.

Nick Underwood will roll back the years and will run the shop for Thursday. I’m away back down Bude on Saturday for a few days to make the most of the end of the summer holidays, I leave you in the capable hands of my dad and Noel.
