Pro's news

Only a week to go

Only a week until the Ryder Cup kicks of in France. It's one of the only times I get nervous watching sport, apart from going up the baggies. The Ryder Cup is special and you always hope that you can put one over the Americans but looking at the teams this year I think we are in for the toughest test ever. The Americans look so strong on paper compared to the Europeans but you never know in matchplay and the Ryder Cup what could happen.

With the Ryder Cup taking place we have set up a sweep for the overall result, It's £5 per entry and all you have to do it choose the winning team and by what score and the winner or winners will receive credits on their pro shop account. Come in to the shop today and collect your betting slip and see if you can predict the outcome.

Ryder Cup fever doesn't stop there. Next Saturday we are running our very own Ryder Cup shot gun start at 8am. Myself and the Captain are team Europe and Craig and Noel are the enemy being team USA. Join us for a shot gun start followed by brunch and prize giving. Entry is online now but if you have any issues please contact the pro shop.

The Parsons hit top form

Congratulations to John and Jim Parsons for winning the Autumn pairs open. The day was as usual a great success with a well supported field and the feedback from all visitors and members was excellent. John and Jim shot 46 points which won by 2 shots in the end.

What's new to the shop this week?

Now September has arrived and almost finished it's time now to turn our attention to the winter and stock the shop accordingly. Winter is always hard to predict in what to stock as you are never sure what could happen, it could be like last year which would be a disaster, however, we have to think more positive and we have made some great buys for this winter.

FootJoy boots

FootJoy have designed a water proof boot which will be ideal for the Winter. Members who ordered these in last year said they were brilliant and so this year we have decided to stock the boot and see how it goes. The boot is 100% leather and guaranteed waterproof. The cost for the boot is £99, we have all sizes in stock so come down and take a look.

Pro Quip jackets

We again have stocked Pro Quip as we feel its the best product on the market for the money. We have suits available but also we now stock the quilted jackets and Gilets.

They look and feel great so again if you feel the cold in the winter look at these items as they keep you extremely warm. Jackets cost £64.99 and the gilet cost £59.99 so a really good price for a product of that quality.

Ryder Cup clothing

This has been the biggest selling clothing line we have stock for years and we only have a small amount left, be quick and buy a piece of history and get behind the team. Team Europe all the way!

Studio news

This is where Kidderminster pro shop comes into its own

We are so proud in the pro shop of our indoor facility and this is the time of year that we begin to truly use the studio after a summer so good you would never want to go indoors. Whilst I write this newsletter the rain is smashing down on the pro shop roof and the wind is bending the trees almost vertical, this doesn't matter if you want to improve your game anymore because we have one of the best indoor studios in the midlands. We have worked extremely hard in making the studio work and again this winter we will be offering loads of fun activities in the studio along with coaching plans and self practice and simulation sessions. If you have never been in the studio come along and ask me or the lads to show you and we can run through exactly what the studio can do and what we can offer.

Pressure putts

With the Ryder Cup coming up next week, we can expect plenty of tense moments, particularly on the greens. You’ll probably notice that players on both sides will have the ability to hole out under huge amounts of pressure – who can forget Ian Poulter’s clutch putt on the 16th green at Medinah in 2012?
