The Captain opens the course for the season…
The tradition at Kidderminster golf club is for the Captain and the President to hit a ball off the first tee to officially open the course for the season. This used to happen on New Year’s Day but it changed a few years ago, it’s now just after the AGM for the new Captain and President to brave it in front of the crowds to hit a ball each which officially declares the course open for the season.
|
We always have a little wager on then combined drives with half going to the winner and half going to the captain’s charity, me having inside information chose well with 360 yards for the pair thinking I have a great chance and then the captain pulls out an old persimmon golf club and a small ball and I knew my money was gone. Congratulations to Mike Dyer for winning with a total of 291 which was only 3 off the 288 they totaled. |
After the drive in, we played a Texas scramble and again we had a great laugh with over 100 players enjoying the knock on a Sunday morning. The scores were excellent and although myself alongside my Dad, RBZ Rob Pooler and Ping Paul, the dream team, it turned more into a nightmare but we had a great morning and never stopped laughing. |
It’s that time of year
A green keeper’s nightmare coming up…The Masters.
Remember they have a unlimited budget, 100s of Green staff, 100s of fully working machines, perfect temperature and no golfers playing the course for months before.

The Masters begins today
Really excited that The Masters is on the TV starting today. This year I really feel it could be won by around 50 players.
My bets are as follows for you: Rory Mcllroy, JB Holmes and Justin Rose.
I really feel these all have a great chance to win this week. The Masters draw will be done live tomorrow on Facebook and a list will be in the shop from Friday - Good luck to everyone who has entered the draw.

PING Fitting Day
On Wednesday we held a PING Fitting Day and the day was a huge success with 8 members and guests enjoying an afternoon of fittings.
They ranged from driver fittings to a full set and everyone was impressed with Tom the fitting guy and he’s knowledge - A great day.

Great feedback…
Teaching away the other evening and my phone went and it was a message from a lad I have been teaching for a couple of months now who is new to golf.
This is what the message said:
‘Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
I shot 48 round Bromsgrove front 9 last night. Straight 280yard drives, 165 yard approaches and confidence. I’ve never enjoyed playing so much!!’
It makes my job so enjoyable when I get messages like that.

A driver is a powerful beast, sometimes too powerful if a hole has a hazard within range. In this scenario, you have a plethero of options to choose from, but there is one that is often overlooked. |
Picture the scene You're stood on a par-4 tee box and there’s a water hazard 240 yards away. What do you do? Many of you will reach for your longest iron on auto-pilot, however a custom-fitted fairway wood might just be the perfect solution; getting you further down the hole and closer to the green. | |
|
Why is this often overlooked? A lot of golfers don't have confidence in hitting their fairway wood because, quite simply, they don't use it enough. But with technology to help you hit them better - such as a Tungsten weight in PING's G410 fairway wood that increases forgiveness - it's time you gave them another go. |
Custom fitting is key We're delighted to see so many of you come to us for a custom fit when you're after a new driver or set of irons, but why does it stop there? A custom fitting is so important in ensuring you get the most from any new purchase, whether that's a driver, fairway wood or putter. |
