A look back at a great year
It only seems a few newsletters ago that it was the start of the year and all of sudden it's the end of the year. It goes so quick, especially when your having fun. 2014 has been a very memorable year and this newsletter we will be looking back on what happened during the year. I hope you enjoy.
January
January is the month when many manufactures launch their new ranges of clubs Last year I made several trips to Celtic Manor with members being custom fitted for new golf clubs. Next year is no exception as I have already taken 4 bookings for fittings. If you're interested in having a fitting please click here or pop into the shop and I can run through what it involves.
February
February saw the introduction of the new grip bar. This was a wonderful success with customers coming into the shop and having their grips checked, and when needing replacement, the grips were made to their exact spec using the grip bar chart. Again keep you eye on February for a great deal on grips.
March
March was the start of the new Patrick Smith golf academy and during the year we have managed to coach over 100 children using tri golf for the under 6s and the junior golf passport for 6 to 11 year olds and we now run a class for over 11s at 11.30 every Saturday. The under 6s has now stopped for the winter and will return in March. Don't forget if you're a member and you have a child or grandchild under the age of 14 they can join for free as long as they enroll in to my academy. For more information regarding the junior coaching just pop into the shop.
April
In April we ran a TaylorMade demo day. Demo days are always a success at Kidderminster and I have already booked in 4 demo days for next year. I will let you know the dates nearer the time.
It was also the start of our summer clinics.
May
During May, Brian Longmore won the George Law trophy after having a series of lessons from me.
I also ran a 2 Tri Golf festivals on the main practice ground which saw over 100 children visit our golf club and enjoy our wonderful facilities.
June
In June, 7 members and myself headed down to tackle St Georges, Princes and Warmer and Kingstown. Next year we are off to Royal Lytham as we found St Georges far too easy. I wish!!
Also in June we had a great Captains weekend.
July
During July Mike Thompson and myself came very close to qualifying for the finals of the Lombard. We played Coventry golf club and missed out by 2 shots.
Also July saw the lady captain host her annual home day for the ladies section
August
In August, the seniors pairs open was played and after a extremely tough day with a almost full field and then they had lightening and thunder and the course had to close, it then re opened half hour later and then the sun came out and everybody who returned to the course completed. Congratulations on Dave Colwell and Roy Clough for winning on the day.
We had the Captains away day at Sutton Coldfield. With over 40 members enjoying wonderful days golf.
In August we also won the Kidderminster v Stourbridge jubilee cup
August also saw the Presidents day with a different format of power play on certain holes. The day was brilliant with many members enjoying the different format and having a fun.
September
Kevin O'Conner shot a nett 63 to win the medal in September after signing up to the monthly pro plan.
October
October saw the first ever Pat Smith Academy golf day with 88 people playing and it was a great day despite the weather.
Also I ran the first ever night golf event. We had over 60 people play and it was a brilliant night with many members dressing up for Halloween.
November
In November, Kevin Woodham organised the men's presentation dinner. It was a fantastic night with one of the best after dinner comedians I have ever heard. Aaron James was brilliant from start to finish and it was a great night.
Also Paul Burkes and Phil Brookes birthday party was held at the club. They put on a live band and it was a brilliant night.
December
The ladies held a Christmas golf day with all the presents donated going to under privilege children in the area.
