Amazing differences using the GC2, seeing is believing
Last week I mentioned I have purchased a GC2 machine. The launch monitor has been in full use this week in both coaching and fitting.
It's a great tool for coaching. We can show you when you make better swings what happens to the ball and how this effects the ball. We can also show you when we make a swing change how that effects the shot and the result.
Teaching improvements
One of my lessons has been hitting the ball nicely, but the ball was drawing too much in the air. See below image left. You can see that the ball had 11.2 degrees of right to left spin meaning the club was closed through impact, putting too much side spin on the ball and also the back spin was very low due to the club being closed.
We made a few changes and see the differences in the stats. See (image right above) we have reduced the side spin meaning he was hitting the ball straighter and his back spin increased meaning he hit the ball higher.
Gaining yards and consistency. Are you using the wrong equipment?
I have started custom fitting using the GC2 monitor. I can see launch angles, spins and distances I can perfectly fit to your swing and ability. We have many clubs at many different lofts and shafts to get the perfect club or clubs for you.
Fairway wood fitting. Gained 30 yards in the air.
Their own 5 wood carried 144 yards on average and back spin off 4100.The back spin is too high meaning the ball is spending more time going up than forward. I fitted them with a lower spinning wood and a slightly lower loft and they averagely carried the ball 174 yards with a spin off 1700. Much better.
Iron fitting. Longer and straighter.
Their own irons were not set up correctly for him- The clubs were too flat for him, meaning the toe of the club was hitting the ground first at impact, this will spin the club open (pointing right of the target and increasing the loft) as you can see with the yellow spots. We fitted him with a set of Titleist AP2 irons (red dots) that were more upright and the ball then flew straighter and further. Just shows that not always in golf does a bad workman blame his tools.

School coaching has started
We have now started school coaching, going in delivering tri golf for 7/8 year olds. This week sees me at Comberton and Spennells. It's so rewarding and is very pleasing to see so many children having fun while pushing our academy sessions. I have also had a meeting this week with King Charles in setting up a golf academy after Easter.
