Last week Noel and I headed to Ross on Wye for the day for a workshop meeting with my buying group, Foremost. This is always a brilliant day where we learn so much in regards to giving the members the best services possible to learning what other clubs and professionals have done and how successful they have been. I have taken many ideas, some which you will over the next couple of months.

Tip of the week
The softer the grip the better the shot
The biggest fault I find in golfers is the grip tension being too tight. The following things happen when you grip the club too tight:
Shortens the forearm muscles. When you shorten the forearm muscles, this makes your arms shorter resulting in hitting the ball half way up the ball causing a thin.
Restricts wrist hinge. If you wrist don't hinge on the backswing this will stop you creating an angle that will result in a top or thin shot.
Moving the weight of the club. When you grip tight, the weight of the club goes from the head up to the grip. The best way to tell is by holding the club around 2 feet of the floor and wiggle the club backwards and forwards and if you feel the weight in the head of the club then that's good, if you feel the weight in your hands or your grip then relax and see where the weight will go.
Result of the grip too tight is thinning, topping, loss of distance, lack of strike, very inconsistent shots.
Grip it like a tube of tooth paste without the paste coming out.
Cash for clubs scheme
Now the new clubs have been launched, if you're looking for a change we can always sell your clubs through my eBay shop and put the credit on to your pro shop account. This also goes for anything else you have that you feel will sell, we can turn this into credit for you.

What's the pro shop staff up to
My dad continues to improve and has now ventured up the club, only because there was £500 up for grabs in the clubs lottery! Noel has now started playing, we're having to make a few changes to his swing to help his back. Jack is itching to play now the sun is shining and is playing in all the team matches coming up. I've been very busy as usual- It's been a good start to the year with the launch of new clubs and also with the purchase of the GC2. We are setting up the school coaching for after Easter, the ladies coaching and golf day are now set up and we have many more plans in the pipeline. Let's make this a summer to remember.
