The GC2 continues to work its magic
Since purchasing the launch monitor, the results in custom fitting and coaching have been amazing. Now we have the technology to see spin rates, launch angles and carry distance- we can adjust swings and clubs in order to gain the most distance for their swings. Last week we fitted Mark with the new Titleist 915 driver. The results were amazing. Having brought his ball speed down slightly you would have thought Mark would have lost distance, but with increasing the launch angle, decreasing the spin we managed to gain 19 yards of carry.
Another great ladies coaching day
Last Wednesday, I ran a full days coaching for our lady members. We had a great day. We played golf in the morning, which I asked the ladies to keep stats so we can know exactly what we needed to work on in the afternoon. The results were very similar, very good of the tee, good second shots, however the approach shots and short game need work so after lunch we went down the practice ground and worked on 50 yard shots, 25 yard shots and little lob shots, we also worked on distance control using the GC2, I asked the ladies to hit the ball a certain distance and to see how close they got to that distance. A great day which I will be doing again during the season but don't forget I have my ladies class every Wednesday at 10am on the main practice ground.
Happy birthday Mark
Last week Mark Baker celebrated his birthday. For the occasion, my Mum baked Mark a cake which she gave him at 8 o'clock and we have a new record because by 10 o'clock there was still half the cake left! Usually this would have been polished if within the first hour. Happy birthday Mark.
Patrick Smith Golf Academy News
The academy goes from strength to strength. Since I started as the professional of Kidderminster, coaching has always been my passion and it's never changed! The thrill and enjoyment I get from making people's golf better, whether it be coaching a beginner or an international player, both have challenges but ones that I love and thrive on.
What's been happening in the academy this year and how has it impacted both myself and the golf club.
I'm now running my second session of beginners classes, the 6 that subscribed have now all subscribed to another 5 sessions, alongside this Noel beginner class starts next Sunday at 10am. So if you know someone who would like to see if they can crack this game, click here.
At the beginning of the year, I started teaching a father and son, both new to the game. We started on the practice ground and each week worked on different fundamentals and then took this to the golf course. Both now have joined the golf club.
This year I started teaching Paul Hickman. Paul came to me as a golfer that hadn't played much golf, very rusty. We got him into good routines and again took these on to the golf course. After enjoying the course and the facilities we have to offer Paul has now applied to join the golf club.
In the middle of last year, I started coaching Sue Baylis. Sue will make an extremely good golfer and shows great potential. Sue has now applied to join the club and I'm sure will go from strength to strength.
Noel has been teaching Geoff Williams for a while now. Geoff has been playing golf for many years and has now decided he like what he sees at Kidderminster so he has applied to join.
