What a weird few days!!
This week's newsletter should have been about my trip away and how I had such a great time.. However, after a funny turn on Saturday, followed by a trip down to primary care and then a couple of trips to the doctors, I had to pull out of my trip and Noel took my place. Don't want to bore you with my health issues but the doctors have found I have a very slow pulse rate and that is making me feel very tired and also I can get quite dizzy, they are dealing with the problem as we speak. The good news is this is why I'm so calm and good under pressure on the golf course.. I wish! Many members have been in and have asked about me, the support has been excellent. I will continue the job as usual but just a little slower at the moment. I know some members might say is that possible!
Noel's few days away
Not to disappoint, last weekend saw Noel and 6 of our members including our course manager head to sunny Blackpool, Lytham to be precise and play 3 wonderful golf course.
They started at Fairhaven on Sunday. A great open qualifying course. Noel said the course was in great condition and although slightly breezy got away with the weather.
On Monday they played Royal Lytham and had a wonderful time. Noel said the course was amazing. He said the front nine was ok as the wind was behind and that helped, then when they turned for the back nine it was like hitting a wall. That's links golf for you, a game of two halves.
The final day saw the group play St Anne's Old Links, this is one of my favourite courses. A proper links course and some great par 3s. Noel played nicely again and shot 3 over, not too bad considering his lay off and the course conditions.
Stewart Smith is looking good
The Stewart Smith trophy is looking very well supported. This is an individual men's medal and is our men's Open. If you're looking for a great day out then get yourself booked in. For all members who haven't booked yet be quick as this is filling up very quickly. Click here to go straight to the entry sheet.
Does custom fitting work?
Ask Terry White. After having a full fitting a couple of weeks ago and spending a couple of hours getting the correct specification and then another hour gap testing Terry's clubs so he knows his distances. Terry went out and shot 44 points this weekend and has qualified for the Lombard trophy. Well done Terry.
Sharon is on the way down
One of our lady members, Sharon Cartwright has been having regular tuition now for around 2 years and is on the Pro plan scheme. Sharon's game has gone from strength and strength. Sharon started the year of a 33 handicap and is now off 27.6. Sharon has also played in a few county comps and has done extremely well.
Pro plan. The best way to improve your game.
Teaching people is my job and improving their games. However it's very hard to get consistent improvement when they only have lessons once a year. Pro plan is designed to have regular coaching, even if you're playing well. For £20 per month you get a lesson, 10% off all purchases and your clubs cleaned after every round, not to mention 20% off any other lessons booked in that month. This is a great plan and I feel that if your serious in improving then subscribe to the plan today. Click here.
What's the pro shop staff up to this week?
Another busy week teaching, I'm moving a few lessons around so I'm not running round like a headless chicken. I also have my second County coaching squad team on Saturday and we have the mid-summer madness on Monday. Noel is off to Wentworth to watch the golf on Wednesday and then is busy teaching the rest of the time. Jack is holding the shop together and played nicely at Redditch in the Boulton Slaver last Sunday. My dad has finally got rid of the back log of trolleys and is now away in Cornwall for a few days.
