Greetings from Patrick Smith

The Jubilee retained after shocking weather

Each year since 1977, we have played a 2 day match against Stourbridge, the 2 day event is played with a wonderful spirit and is always great fun with our neighbours. This year we played Stourbridge on the Saturday and the course was in excellent condition. In the morning, the scores were rolling in nicely with the Stourbridge members shooting some amazing scores. Then the weather came down late afternoon with thunderstorms and torrential rain, everyone left on the course had to come in and wait for the weather to subside before finishing off their rounds.

Sunday of the Jubilee saw everybody come back to play Kidderminster, the course was looking excellent after heavy rain during Saturday and overnight. The start of the day went well and the first dozen teams came in but then the weather set in flooding the course very quickly, in the end everyone retuned to the clubhouse as the greens became unplayable.

We had to make many changes to how the vouchers were paid out due to having only a few teams return both days scores. In the end we made the best out of a difficult situation.

Congratulations to our boys, Neil and Callum for winning the two day event and to Kidderminster for winning the team trophy.

I hope everyone who played the event enjoyed the two days and let's hope next year we can fill the start sheet in what's a great two days played by two great golf clubs. Scores from the jubilee right.

Our Junior Academy is going from strength to strength

The junior academy on a Saturday morning has been a wonderful success for both the golf club and myself. It's always quiet through the summer holidays but we are still getting 20 to 25 children. September will be busier when they return from holidays. We are always trying to make the Saturday sessions more exciting. Take a look below at some of our games.

The custom fittings are in full swing

With Mizuno and PING releasing new products, we are now taking bookings for the latest technology. Have you ever been fitted? Our Lady Captains report

The ladies committee organised as usual the tea and we invite Mr & Mrs Captain and also Mr &Mrs President together with our senior ladies who no longer play competitive golf.
For the golfers we run a 12 hole Stableford competition which is free and we ask for donations for the charity, this year as you know is Kemp.
The comp was well supported and over 40 ladies attended the tea.
Comp results 1st Jane Abraham 30 points, 2nd Rosie Burton 26 points and third Sharon Cartwright 25 points.
A raffle was also run which raised £99 and donations from the comp £46.50 making a total of £145.50.
Darren and his staff provided an excellent tea. A good day was had by all.

Events up and coming at the golf club

What's the pro shop staff up to this week?

This week we have the last of the junior summer camps with 20 children attending. Noel is away Friday playing at Oswestry with the seniors whilst I'm staying at the club sorting out the golfer non golfer. I have the first of my get in to golf sessions that night as well with getting ready for Presidents' Day on Saturday. Next week will see Ethan return to school so he will be working weekends for me, Noel is playing and my dad is away for the week so that leaves me on my own for 2 days in the shop- so if you want to pick up a bargain then pop in next Wednesday or Thursday.

GolfBuddy

One of the quickest ways to save strokes is to equip yourself with a golf GPS. Better course management will help you keep double bogeys off the card - so check out our GolfBuddy range in store, which features handheld, laser and wearable devices, all of which will help you to lower your scores.
