A wonderful surprise from the PGA
Last week I had a letter in the post from the PGA. Usually it's a bill for my subs this time of the year so I left the envelope until the end of the day. When I opened the envelope I had a letter saying congratulations I have been given the accolade of advanced PGA professional due to my work at the golf club and outside the club in the schools and colleges as well as the academy and my newsletter. This is a massive honour for me as it show that I'm working in the right direction, it's also great news for the golf club as they have an advanced PGA professional as their club professional. This accolade could not have been possible if it wasn't for so many people. You know who you are so thank you.
Message from our Lady Captain
Last Thursday Kidderminster hosted Herefordshire and Worcestershire Ladies County Golf Association Team Championship. 24 teams took part from the 2 counties. This meant that there were 100 ladies playing on the day.
The Ladies team to represent Kidderminster was Anna Rock, Karen Greenfield, Sarah Nicklin and Lesley Fox. Kidderminster won both the gross and the nett trophies with a gross score of 324 and a nett score of 313. Redditch ladies were second with a nett score of 319.
Karen Greenfield won the best individual gross with a score of 75 and Sarah Nicklin won the best nett with a score of 75. These ladies are great ambassadors for Kidderminster.
On Thursday, Kidderminster ladies hosted a AM AM. A total of 116 ladies played representing 29 teams from far and wide.
A ladies team from Gaudet Luce were first with 86 points on the back nine from Karen Greenfield and her team from Kings Norton. In third place was a team from Stourbridge with 82 points and in fourth place was a team from Harborne with 81 points.
A raffle was held in aid of Kemp Hospice and a total of £216.00 was raised for the charity. In spite of a heavy shower the day stayed dry and Kidderminster received many compliments regarding the course and the hospitality they received.
Finally Kidderminster on Sunday played there last mixed match. This was played at Worcester Golf and Country Club.
Once again the Kidderminster team were victorious and this means that all 4 matches have been won by the Kidderminster team. Well done team and my thanks to all who have supported these matches.
Regards, Wendy
